CoWorker is being abused
Written by "Gryphon"
I have a female coworker being physically & verbally abused by her (roommate/boyfriend/partner).
When she came to work with us she was at a shelter for women, and had moved to our area to get away from this relationship. She then worked things out with him, and with the help of her friends & coworkers he relocated and I let them move into my spare bedroom. Problems with substance abuse (alcohol) by both required they get their own place, still friends with me. This was due to verbal abuse both ways when drinking by them.
After moving, she missed work a few times for (hangover, soreness, sickness?), was put on probation, lost her job eventually. She worked it out with the manager, came back to work. We all like & support her.
She was being verbally & physically abused again. My manager at our job helped her to get a PPO against him when she came in to work hurt (ribs sore). She went back to the shelter after court. He showed up later at our work, went to jail for public intoxication only, as he had not been served with paperwork yet from the court.
He went to counseling for the alcohol/anger with support from his boss at his job. She cancelled/amended the PPO a week or so later & allowed him back in to the apartment.
Since then, she is back on probation for missing a day, due to verbal abuse all night long while he was drinking, she had no sleep and called off work. I found her twice since then, same day, off by herself coughing, holding her left side ribs, second time with tears on her cheeks.
She has friends here to help her, but she has chosen to go back to this relationship 3 times that we know of, twice from a shelter to get away from him that we know of. How can we help?
